Looking for serious fishing time without the private charter price tag? This 10-hour shared offshore trip is exactly what you need. We're talking about a full day on the water targeting red snapper, grouper, king mackerel, and whatever else decides to bite. You'll join a small group of fellow anglers who know that the best fishing happens when you're willing to run deep and stay out long. All your gear, tackle, and licenses are covered—just bring your appetite for action and maybe some snacks to keep you going.
This isn't your typical half-day tourist trip. We're running offshore to where the big fish live, and that means we're serious about putting you on fish. The boat heads out early, and we don't turn around until we've given you every chance to hook into something worth bragging about. You'll be sharing the experience with other anglers who understand that patience and persistence pay off out here. The crew knows these waters like the back of their hand, so when they say it's time to drop lines, you better believe the fish are down there waiting. We provide all the rods, reels, and tackle you need, but live bait runs extra—and trust me, it's worth every penny when you see what it attracts.
We're talking bottom fishing for the most part, dropping heavy sinkers and big hooks down to structure where snapper and grouper call home. The crew will set you up with the right rod and reel combo for the depth we're fishing—usually something with enough backbone to haul up a nice red snapper from 80+ feet of water. Circle hooks are the name of the game for most of our target species, and the crew will show you the proper technique if you're not familiar. When kings are running, we'll switch up tactics and put out some trolling lines or set up with live bait on the drift. Don't worry if you've never done this before—the crew walks everyone through the setup and helps whenever you need it.
Red snapper are the crown jewel of Gulf fishing, and for good reason. These bright red beauties fight hard and taste even better. They hang around structure in 60-150 feet of water, and when you hook one, you'll know it—they make strong runs toward the bottom trying to get back to their rocky hideouts. Peak season runs from June through August, but we catch them year-round when conditions are right. A good red snapper will run 5-15 pounds, with the occasional monster pushing 20+.
Lane snapper might be smaller than their red cousins, but they make up for it in numbers and attitude. These feisty little fighters are perfect for keeping your rod bent when the bigger fish are being picky. They school up heavy around the same structure where reds live, and they're absolute suckers for live shrimp or cut bait. Most lanes run 1-3 pounds, but they fight like fish twice their size.
Red grouper are the bulldogs of the bottom. When you hook one, it's like trying to pull a cinder block off the ocean floor—except this cinder block has an attitude and doesn't want to come up. They lurk in holes and ledges, ambushing anything that looks like an easy meal. Grouper season varies, but when they're open, there's nothing quite like the satisfaction of winning a tug-of-war with a 15-pound gag or red grouper.
King mackerel bring the speed and flash to offshore fishing. These silver bullets can hit 40+ mph when they're running, and they'll test your drag system like nothing else. Kings patrol the blue water looking for schools of baitfish, and when conditions are right, we'll target them with live bait or high-speed trolling. Fall and spring are prime time for kings, with fish ranging from schoolie-size up to 30+ pound smokers.
Grey triggerfish might look funny, but don't let their appearance fool you—these fish know how to fight. They've got strong jaws designed for crushing shellfish, and they use that power to put up a surprising battle. Triggers are curious fish that will investigate just about any bait, and they're actually pretty good eating once you get past their tough skin. They're most active during warmer months and can be found around the same structure as snapper and grouper.
Ten hours on the water targeting some of the Gulf's best eating fish—this shared charter gives you maximum fishing time without the private boat expense. The crew at Pisces Fishing & Adventures knows how to put you on fish, and they're not happy unless you go home with a cooler full of fillets and some great stories. Spots fill up fast, especially during peak season, so don't wait around thinking about it. Grab your spot now and get ready for the kind of fishing day that reminds you why you love being on the water. Just remember to pack some food and drinks—you're going to work up an appetite pulling in all those fish.
